Health Assessment

Initial Visit

Utilizing a medically-based approach for weight management allows us to integrate all aspects of your health to ensure both safety and efficacy. We provide an initial health assessment to all new patients to include a consultation and physical examination with our certified physician assistant.

We ask all patients thoroughly complete a medical history form, receive an electrocardiogram (EKG), and have their weight and blood pressure checked on each visit. We may advise you to take a urine pregnancy test if indicated.

By the third month of treatment, blood work including complete blood count, complete metabolic panel, thyroid stimulating hormone, and free T4 is to be obtained at either our laboratory for $60 (no insurance accepted) or your primary care physician. This aids us in ruling out medical conditions that may be a factor in difficulty or inability to lose weight so we can focus on lifestyle changes including diet and exercise.

Follow-up Visits

During each follow-up visit we track your weight loss, monitor blood pressure, and heart rate. We ask about your current diet and exercise patterns and may make suggestions as needed to provide you with the best results. Additionally, we will review all of your medications to make sure they have not changed and evaluate for rare medication side effects. Typically follow-ups are performed on a monthly basis to promote accountability without hindering your comfort or privacy. With the flexibility of our clinic, appointments are not necessary for follow-ups and you are encouraged to return at your convenience during one of the five days we are open.

We are not a replacement for your primary care doctor and encourage you to stay up-to-date with annual physicals, blood testing, and current medications including those for diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, thyroid, or psychiatric reasons. We are more than willing to work with your physician and current providers to ensure continuity of care for the best and safest outcomes.
